XBT/XCTD system: Vertical profile data of water temperature or salt content can be obtained by dropping the probe into the sea. We have lineup of XBT probe for water temperature measurement and XCTD probe for both water temperature and salt content measurements. One time measurement can be done by one probe.
High performance disk typed thermistor is adopted for detection of water temperature by both XBT and XCTD probes. Change in water temperature is measured according to change in resistance of thermistor. Regarding XCTD, salt content is calculated from the data of electric conductivity and water temperature. Together with water temperature signal, electric conductivity signal that is detected by electromagnetic induction typed cell within XCTD probe is transmitted to data recorder by digital signals.
XCTD probe consists of electromagnetic induction typed cell and drift compensating circuit (patent granted in USA, Canada, England, and Norway, patent applied for in Germany and Japan), and succeeded in obtaining extremely-stable and quick response electric conductivity data.
The data that is obtained by the main unit of probe is transmitted through signal transmission wire, and connected to launcher at canister section. The depth probe reaches is automatically computed from the length of time that has elapsed since dropping probe into the sea.
We have a wide variety of both XBT and XCTD probes depending on the depth needed. Please specify which type of probe is needed to place an order. Twelve (12) ea. of both XBT and XCTD probes are packed and delivered in a carton case. All the quality-controlled probes are being produced and shipped out at Shirakawa Factory.
